Blog Assignment 3

The streets were bare. No one could miss the funeral of the great Caesar. We all believed in him; we thought he could be a great ruler. And now, he was dead. At the beginning, the funeral was very upsetting but then, Antony stepped up to the podium and started speaking. Everyone in Rome stopped and listened and we realized…he was right. The conspirators had no right killing Caesar, and they should pay for their actions.
All the citizens of Rome were in an uproar! The conspirators needed to pay for what they did and all of Rome went looking for any of them! We finally came across a man walking alone in the streets. We asked the man his name. He was puzzled on why we asked him but when he told us his name was Cinna, we all went wild!
We all kicked and punched the man. He tried getting away, but there were too many of us. It only took a few minutes until; finally, the man was beaten to death.
One down, many more to go and we would stop at nothing to find the men that killed our beloved Caesar and got revenge. Houses were burned and buildings were destroyed. Citizens were full of rage.
There were many more violent acts throughout the day. People could not be stopped. The conspirators would be found; and they would be killed.

Brutus's Diary,

Brutus’s Diary Entry

I have lived in Rome my whole life, and there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do to protect my country. Rome is a beautiful place. It has also had some good and bad leaders. Caesar is not yet king, but he is very popular among the people. Today, he was even offered the crown, but declined. Now, Caesar is a very powerful man, and accepting the crown would give him more power so, it troubles me why he didn’t accept the crown. Caesar is a very close friend of mine. He is logical, a good leader and very powerful but if he does become king, what would become of Rome? The last thing I want is to see Rome get destroyed.
A man named Cassius and I had a discussion about this today as well. We both don’t want to see Rome get destroyed but unlike me, he has made up his mind on Caesar. Cassius feels that Caesar will ruin Rome. Although I haven’t quite made up my mind, Cassius did have some good points about Caesar not being fit for king. He said that Caesar has many weaknesses that will not be good for Rome in the long run. He made a good point, but how do we know how good a leader Caesar will be?
Caesar is a very wise and intelligent man that may, or may not be fit for king, but Ill do whatever it takes to do what’s best for Rome.

Blog Assignment 1

The book i am doing for this assignment is The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor. Frank Beddor is a former world champion freestyle skier, film producer, actor, stuntman and author. He also wrote the sequel to The Looking Glass Wars called Seeing Redd.
The prologue of the book is when Reverend Charles Dodgsen, is showing Alice Liddell(she spells her name Alyss) the manuscript of the book Alice's Adventures Underground, a book based on Alyss' life that she shared with the Reverend. When she finds out that the Reverend changes the whole story she is shocked, and refuses to see him ever again. The story then begins many years earlier, when Alyss is just a child in Wonderland. Wonderland is a world that runs on imagination. The Queen's evil sister Redd makes an unexpected attack on Wonderland; forcing Alyss and Hatter Madagin(The Queen's bodyguard) to jump into an inter-dimensional gateway, called the Pool Of Tears. The two Wonderlanders end up getting separated and end up in two different parts of the world. From there, Alyss is on her own while Hatter devotes the rest of his life to find Alyss and bring her back to Wonderland. Alyss ends up living with orphan kids on the street, and is then adopted into the Liddell family. After thirteen years, Hatter finally finds Alyss and convinces her to go back to Wonderland, leaving the life she had created herself, to defeat her evil Aunt Redd. From there, she embarks on a quest to find the all powerful heart crystal; which she must use to defeat her aunt. From there, an epic battle occurs in which White and Black imagination are fighting for the kingdom of Wonderland. In the end, Alyss defeated Redd, and restored Wonderland to its original state.
The main setting of the book takes place in Wonderland. In our world, the setting is in Victorian era but Wonderland is set in a completely different time. The author never states when tho. The atmosphere of the story is many things. At the beginning of the book, the atmosphere is happy because the author is explaining Wonderland, and how it is perfect. It is also at Alyss' birthday party so everyone has a very happy attitude.
The main character of the story is Alyss Heart. Alyss is very adaptable. She was taken from her home into a new world with nothing. She went from living in a castle, where her life was perfect and majestic to living on the streets with nothing. Being able to do this shows that Alyss can adapt to any environment. Another personality trait Alyss has is courageous. Being away from her home for thirteen years and then returning to defeat her aunt to rule Wonderland again is pretty courageous. She had to face many obstacles throughout the book such as escaping wonderland the first time, being in a whole new world for thirteen years, returning to Wonderland, going through the glass maze and many, many more. These are just two personality traits Alyss Heart has.
I must say, The Looking Glass Wars is such an amazing book. I read this book in the summer when i went away for a week and let me tell you, i could NOT put it down! The book is not a quick read, but I finished reading it in two days because i and i really enjoyed it. The book has a very interesting plot that will keep you reading. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy books and likes a lot of action. Overall, a great book!
